Since 1949, our mission has been to celebrate the excellence of scholar athletes in Livermore. We accomplish this mission by promoting scholar athletic events throughout the year, hosting a joint rivals celebration at the end of each year, and hosting a community race in November.
The Livermore Granada Boosters is a volunteer-run 501.c.3 nonprofit that was organized in 1949 by a group of former Livermore High School alumni and civic-minded businessmen to foster and stimulate scholarship and athletics in the community’s high school. The group organized around the principle that outstanding students who are active in athletics become future good citizens who possess the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. The group established an annual banquet to celebrate excellence in local student athletes.
Over the years, the Boosters expanded to grant an Olympian Scholarship Award to honor scholar athletes at our annual banquet. In 1963, Granada High School was founded and included, bringing together the two local high schools in joint celebration. The scholarship award was expanded to include female scholar athletes and has been enlarged several times. The Boosters also instituted team awards, which are voted on by players and awarded to individuals who are the most inspirational within each varsity team.
Today, we are still a group of community-minded volunteers who believe that outstanding students active in athletics become good citizens of the future. We have expanded our reach to celebrate more scholar athletes by publishing tens of thousands of photos per year, and we promote scholar athletes via our website, social media, newsletter, and other channels. We also host an annual community celebration at the Race to the Flagpole.
Our annual Olympian Banquet has grown to recognize athletes and coaches of Livermore High School and Granada High School in 54 Varsity Sports, as well as award $16,000 in scholarships. In addition, at our banquet, we announce team and Hall of Fame awards.
